Notwithstanding the heavy rains caused by typhoon Juan, the Special Reaction Unit (SRU) successfully conducted the Close Quarter Battle (CQB) Training from 19 to 21 October 2010, at the DND Arsenal in Limay, Bataan. The objective of the said training is for the participants to enhance their skills and capability in CQB.
The trainees were divided into two groups composed of forty (40) assaulters, three (3) Officers and thirty-seven (37) Enlisted Personnel.
On the first day, the group could only do the Zeroing of Rifle due to the typhoon. The training continued on the second day with six activities; Ball and Dummy, Basic Pistol Markmanship, Basic Rifle Markmanship, Transition Drill, Malfunction Drill, and Stress Test. Participants were grouped into four. Two more drills were performed on the last day; the Shooting Behind the Barricade and Room Entry. Each group was given a chance to engage in multiple targets while moving.
Despite the difficult conditions the training was a success, proving that not even a typhoon could deter the unit from getting its job done.
